Generation
Exhibition and arts activities by young artists for young people

art of the STITCH is seen alongside Generation, a pioneering exhibition devised by Lynn Szygenda, the Guild's Deputy Director and Senior Curator, of work commissioned from four young makers. Generation is funded by the National Lottery through the Arts Council of England's stabilisation programme, and is being presented at the Gallery of Costume, Platt Hall, Manchester (7 July - 12 August) and Kingston Museum, Surrey (7 December - 26 January).

The 4 artists participating in Generation are:

Clare Proctor
In her work Clare is investigating communication, through touching, looking, listening and feeling the textile objects that she creates.

Karen Woods
Karen describes the influences behind her heavily machine embroidered work as ‘people and their relationships’.

Christine Keys
Through her work Christine explores an interaction between contemporary textile techniques and materials, and traditional millinery processes.

Jo Waller
Using perspex, silks, and polyester, Joanna creates textile sculptures which question the space they occupy.
