Karen Woods is a graduate of the BA Textile/Fashion course at Loughborough College of Art and Design/University of Central England.

In 1997 Karen exhibited in Art of the Stitch where, for her piece The World Awaited, she received the Anchor Award for most outstanding exhibit, sponsored by Coats Crafts UK.

Since graduating Karen has been an active exhibitor and teacher of embroidery, working with many sectors of the community through a number of residencies.

“Working in a medium as flexible as textiles allows me to portray my work in a painterly fashion, with the added bonus of tactile and three-dimensional qualities, which has become my trade mark, and I am keen to produce work in which touch is possible."
