Christine
Keys is a graduate of the BA Design Crafts course (in which she
focused on creative machine embroidery and millinery) at Cumbria
College of Art and Design (1999).
In 1999
Christine was selected as Embroiderers’ Guild Scholar.
Since graduating
Christine has pursued her interest in creative millinery in
combination with story telling. Prior to Generation Christine’s
major project was Toy Story, some of the hats from that project
are exhibited here.
“The
concept expressed through this earlier work relates to the idea
of fantasy play in childhood, where enjoyable make-believe stories
inspired by soft toys are created.
I made a
collection of hats that explore the idea that children develop
their own personal stories and imaginary friends around their
toys."
