Workshops & Courses

The Guild runs a varied programme of workshops, summer schools and courses. Some are organised by Headquarters, most are organised by the 11 Regions of the Guild or by many of the Branches. All courses and workshops are primarily for members.

We are pleased to announce the 2014/2015 series workshops to be held at Embroiderers’ Guild House in Walton on Thames with Kay Dennis and Judith Bailey.

WORKSHOPS

All Workshops are run on a Saturday and the dates are as follows:

2015

21st February 2015 FORGOTTEN STITCHES with Kay Dennis

ForgottenStitchesworkshop.jpgWe all use stitches that we know and are comfortable with but there are many equally beautiful stitches that, because they are unfamiliar, we don't use. Kay will teach you to make a decorative sampler using some new stitches and hopes that they will also become firm favourites. Students will be given a piece of fabric which will have a drawn and coloured leaft on it. Students will be shown various little-known or used stitches to embellish the leaf.

NOTES

  1. Workshops will run from 10.00 am – 4.00 pm.
  2. Maximum of 16 students.
  3. Each session will cost £75.00 for members and £90.00 non-members and include the kit supplied by Kay or Judith for the workshop. Coffee will be served, however students will need to bring their own lunch.
Here are some comments from previous participants in Kay and Judith's courses:
"The day was very enjoyable - Kay is an excellent tutor and I learned enough to continue the piece at home".

"Having the class on a Saturday is very helpful. Pleasant atmosphere to work in and good light. Excellent tutor, well prepared and generous with her time".

"I have had a lovely day. Very helpful and Saturday a good day. No traffic and the parking was easy. I also have been given lots of information to take home and contact details to pursue stumpwork further."
