French knots

Inspired by an old paperweight, french knots were used for all the decorative surfaces, and were also used to sew darts to obtain the dome shape and to attach the dome to the flat base. Added french knot tubular appendages created the textured surface, which, as Susan says, calls out to be touched, felt and squeezed.
