Embroiderers'
Guild Museum Collection |
The
Embroiderers' Guild museum houses
a collection of over 11,000 embroidered
objects. The collection is of national
significance as a resource of inspiration
for artists, and for the study of
the material evidence of many cultures.
The
embroideries in the collection have
been gathered from around the world,
and take many forms including costume,
furnishings, decorative and non-functional
textiles.
A particular strength of the collection
is the holding of embroidery worked
in Britain from the 16th century
to the present day.
