Members will be reassured to
know that a recent review carried out by the Charity Commission indicated that
the Embroiderers' Guild has all the hallmarks of a well-run charity.
The Hallmarks of a Well-Run Charity is a benchmark document used in the review
to measure whether charities are meeting all legal requirements ,and are effectively
managed and complying with best practice. The 18-page report considered many aspects
of the Guild's governance and administration.
The Guild's Trustees felt that the recently initiated Charity Commission review
was a useful innovation by the Commission, although not as detailed as an Ofsted
or similar inspection. They were delighted that the review endorsed the management
of the Guild.
