Funding
A cash contribution of up to £500 will be made to each of the 10 artists
selected specifically for the development of work for the exhibition.
Selection
Proposals will be judged on their ability to demonstrate development beyond
current practice through the theme or medium of stitch.
Applications will be assessed on whether sufficient development can be realistically
achieved within the time frame.
Artists will be selected on the basis of their ability to carry out the proposed
project to a standard appropriate to the exhibition.
The selection panel’s decisions are solely based on material submitted,
so the quality of visuals is very important.
Only 10 slides for each proposal will be viewed (or 10 mins of material representing
time based work), do not include more than this.
Selected artists will be expected to provide 2 progress reports during the development
work for the exhibition, these may be in the form of visual, verbal or written
material, and may include a representative of the selection panel making a studio
visit.
Visual material from unselected applicants will not be returned until the end
of November 2002.
Visual material from selected artists will not be returned until the end of
the exhibition.
Submission
Applicants should submit a proposal which clearly demonstrates the development
of their work beyond current practice through the theme or medium of stitch.
Artists CV’s should demonstrate their ability to develop work for a major
exhibition.
Proposals should be accompanied by up to 10 professional quality 35 mm slides,
to include previous work by each of the artists involved in the proposal, and

Time-based media (i.e. video, DVD) will only be accepted to represent time-based
work, and is limited to 10 mins.
Do not send original or sole copies of any visual material.
