Members of the Embroiderers’ Guild are invited to enter work for Riches of Stitches 2004. Each Member can enter one work. Work will be eligible for the following prizes:

AWARDS from Coats Crafts UK to the value of £150 of Coats Crafts UK product per prize

Anchor Prize
Most outstanding work in the exhibition

Hand Embroidery
Most outstanding work featuring hand embroidery

Machine Embroidery
Most outstanding work featuring machine embroidery

Construction
Most outstanding work using stitch to construct raised or three-dimensional work, or structures

Surface Design
Most outstanding work using stitch to explore pattern and decoration

Young Embroiderers 14 and over
Most outstanding work by a Young Embroiderer aged 14 years and over

Young Embroiderers under 14
Most outstanding work by a Young Embroiderer aged under 14 years

CONDITIONS

Maximum number of entries - one per Member. Maximum height of any object is 3m. All work must have been completed since September 2002 and should not have been exhibited in any other national exhibition in the United Kingdom. All entries must include means of hanging/display i.e. battens, rings etc. Garments and 3-dimensional exhibits must include means of display suitable for and complimentary to the object. Please enclose instructions if installation may cause any problems. Entries may be for sale. The Guild will take 35% commission (inclusive of VAT on the commission) from the sale price of any sold work.

HOW TO ENTER

Complete the attached entry form and return it to the Embroiderers’ Guild by 30 January 2004 with a non-refundable entry fee of £10.00. There is no entry fee payable for work submitted by Young Embroiderers.

Cheques should be made payable to E G Enterprises Ltd. Please enclose an SAE if you require your entry to be acknowledged. Entries should be sent or delivered to:

Riches of Stitches, Collins Gallery, 22 Richmond Street, Glasgow G1 1XQ

to arrive between 22 - 26 March 2004.

Lynn Szygenda - Deputy Director and Senior Curator of the Embroiderers' Guild

Riches of Stitches celebrates the work of Embroiderers' Guild Members, and as such the Hanging Committee seeks to display every entry. However the Hanging Committee reserves the right not to display work.

Exhibitors will be informed of any work not hung by 1 April 2004. Any work not hung will be returned from 5 April 2004 onwards, or can be collected from 3 April 2004 onwards (excepting days when the Collins Gallery is closed). Prize winners will be telephoned on 1 April 2004.

PACKAGING

INSURANCE

Insurance of the work to and from the Collins Gallery is the responsibility of the artist. The Embroiderers' Guild will arrange insurance of the work, once it arrives at the Collins Gallery.

RETURN OF WORK

Exhibited work can be collected from the Collins Gallery from 1 May 2004 onwards (excepting days when the Collins Gallery is closed), or will be returned from 4 May 2004 onwards. Please include a cheque (made payable to E G Enterprises Ltd) for payment of your own identified carrier, or stamps (if returned by post) to cover the cost of the return of the work. If you wish the work to be returned by Guild selected carrier we will invoice you for this.

LIABILITY

Work submitted to Riches of Stitches 2004 shall remain at all times at the artist's risk. E G Enterprises Ltd is not liable to refund entry fees for ANY reason. The Embroiderers' Guild and the Hanging Committee reserve the right to use their discretion in all matters concerning work submitted. Their decision in all matters relating to the exhibition will be final and no correspondence can be entered into concerning display or non-display of work. Artists submitting work must accept these conditions.
